This official AS Roma jersey was issued to Cafu during the 1998/99 Serie A season, his second in the Italian capital.
It was a campaign under Zdeněk Zeman, the coach who had wanted him in Rome and whose all-out attacking system suited a right-back of his energy. Watching him surge up and down the flank, Roma supporters named him Il Pendolino.
Across six years in giallorosso, Cafu made 218 appearances, lifted the 2001 Scudetto and later entered the club's Hall of Fame, and he captained Brazil to the 2002 World Cup while still a Roma player. He remains the tireless engine on the right of the side that ended an 18-year wait for the title.
