This official Wigan Athletic shirt was worn by Lee McCulloch in the Carling Cup final against Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium in February 2006.

It was the first major final in the club’s history, reached in Wigan’s debut Premier League season after a semi-final win over Arsenal on away goals. McCulloch came off the bench just after the hour in Cardiff, in front of a crowd of 66,866.

The Scot spent six years at the club after arriving from Motherwell in 2001, scoring 46 goals in 241 matches as Wigan climbed from the third tier to the top flight.

From McCulloch’s own collection, this shirt is a piece of the day Wigan took their place on one of English football’s biggest stages.
