This official AC Milan shirt was worn by Andriy Shevchenko for the Serie A clash against Cagliari at San Siro in October 1999.
Shevchenko levelled from the penalty spot after 10 minutes and played 70 minutes before being replaced. It came a fortnight after his hat-trick in a 4-4 draw at Lazio, early in a debut season in Italy that ended with him as Serie A’s top scorer on 24 goals.
His defining moment came at Old Trafford in May 2003, when he scored the decisive penalty in the Champions League final shoot-out against Juventus. A Scudetto followed in 2003/04, along with a second Capocannoniere crown, and in December 2004 he was awarded the Ballon d’Or.
Across eight seasons in red and black, Shevchenko scored 175 goals in 322 appearances, 14 of them against Inter. This match-worn shirt honours a forward who belongs among the very best ever to lead Milan’s attack.
