RC Toulonnais are raising funds in support of Tonga!

Published February 9, 2022

Last month, the Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha‘apai volcano erupted in the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga, generating dangerous ashfall and triggering a tsunami that affected nearly the entire local population. As the island nation works to recover, sports clubs and athletes from around the world are coming together to raise funds in support of the Tongan people as they rebuild their lives!

Following the natural disaster, Tonga was cut off from the rest of the world for several days, making it difficult for expatriates to contact their loved ones on the islands. Now that the volcanic ash has partially settled, the country has started receiving international aid, with clean drinking water and basic living supplies being a priority. Also joining the cause is Sonatane Takulua, a player for RC Toulonnais and the Tonga National Rugby Team. With the support of several other athletes, the Tongan international is donating some of his most prized rugby jerseys in an effort to raise funds for the affected communities.

From one of South Africa’s greatest talents, Eben Etzebeth, to one of France’s rising stars, Jean-Baptiste Gros, this incredible collection includes one-of-a-kind jerseys from some of rugby’s biggest names. Each of these exclusive items symbolizes a unique piece of rugby history, and you now have the chance to make one of them your own! These valuable pieces of memorabilia are now open for bidding on our platform, with the proceeds going toward helping the Tongan population get back to their normal lives.
