Soccer Unites in Support of the Poppy Appeal

Published November 12, 2024

This November, MatchWornShirt is proud to stand together with soccer clubs across the United Kingdom in support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

As a symbol of respect, clubs will wear shirts featuring a poppy emblem. After the matches, these unique shirts will be signed by the players who wore them and made available for purchase at auction, exclusively on the MatchWornShirt website and app. All net proceeds from these auctions will go to the Royal British Legion.

In honor of Remembrance Day this year, we’re launching our biggest auction in our long-standing collaboration with the RBL. Match-worn and signed shirts from 58 different teams will be available across the Premier League, Championship, League One, Women’s Super League, and rugby.. From this past weekend, shirts from 17 Premier League teams went up for auction, marking the first time all Big Six clubs have appeared on our platform on a single matchday.

This round of Premier League games delivered some fantastic moments. Matt O’Riley, who plays for Brighton, made a triumphant return from injury, scoring a debut goal against Manchester City, which also marked Pep Guardiola’s longest losing streak in his storied career—four consecutive losses. Bruno Fernandes scored on his 250th appearance for the club in its 3-0 win over Leicester. Meanwhile, Liverpool continues its title charge, with Mo Salah extending his goal tally to 165 Premier League goals in 274 appearances, making him the eighth-highest scorer in the league’s history!

For the rest of November, we’ll also be running Poppy Appeal auctions for rugby, EFL League One, and Championship teams across the UK, as well as more Premier League games, so be sure to keep an eye out!

Countless auctions are live now! Head over to our Poppies landing page to explore them all, find your favorite team, and tap the heart to stay updated on future auctions!
