Professional athletes dedicate almost their entire lives to perfecting their craft. Although some may naturally be more talented than others, it takes a great deal of determination and passion to reach the pinnacle of elite sports. And though players can perform feats in their sport that most of the population could not, we often tend to forget that they are human just like us and can excel in other areas of life as well!
One such example is Royal Antwerp's striker Michael Frey! The Swiss-born player is currently the team's top scorer, with an impressive 15 goals in his last 17 games, and he has been a huge part of the team's recent success in the Pro League. Besides his undeniable scoring ability, Frey has also shown us glimpses of his creative genius outside of soccer!
From an early age, Frey has always had a knack for painting, and even though he has dedicated a large part of his life to soccer, he still finds spare moments to work on his hobby. While still living in Switzerland, the striker was unsure whether he should pursue a career in sports or the arts, as he even attended art school before turning pro. In the end, he didn't have to choose, as he has managed to combine the best of both worlds!
Nowadays, the player draws a lot of inspiration from Antwerp's beautiful scenery and reflects his impressions of the city on canvas. His most recent masterpiece depicts the gorgeous architecture of the Antwerp Cathedral, and the unique piece is now up for auction on our platform! The proceeds from its sale will go toward supporting the honorable efforts of Younited Belgium and its commitment to helping people dealing with housing insecurity, mental health and well-being issues, poverty, or addiction.
