Juarez pays homage to one of Mexico’s all-time greats!

The music of Mexico is an extremely diverse mix of different genres, performance styles, and expressions. From the patriotic and love-centered nature of Ranchera to the cheerful, fast-paced Mariachi music, each style has played a role in shaping Mexico’s cultural identity. Over the years, we’ve been treated to the music of renowned artists such as Vicente Fernández, Paulina Rubio, and Luis Miguel, but despite their legendary status, no one has managed to have quite the social impact of six-time Grammy-nominated artist Juan Gabriel!
Nearly 6 years ago, Mexico mourned the passing of one of the most influential and innovative singers of our generation. Known for his flamboyant style and colorful personality, Juan Gabriel revolutionized Mexican music culture and gained a massive following in the process. “El Divo de Juárez” left an indelible mark on the country’s music industry and helped shape modern pop music. In 2015, Juan Gabriel was recognized as one of the 30 most influential Latin performers in history by Billboard magazine, solidifying his legacy and forever etching his name in history!
To commemorate his memorable career, Juan Gabriel’s hometown team, Juarez FC, has dedicated a very special kit to the local legend. Inspired by the suit Juan wore during his iconic concert at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 1990, the exclusive black-and-gold uniforms were worn during the team’s most recent matchup against Chivas Guadalajara. The limited-edition kits feature details such as the artist’s portrait, his signature, and other commemorative elements. In addition to paying homage to the legendary songwriter, the shirts are also meant to unite the Juarez community around a single expression: Juan Gabriel is a Bravo!
