Celebrating the Year of the Ox, Flamengo style!
Published October 26, 2021
With the world more interconnected than ever before, we're now starting to acknowledge and celebrate local traditions on a global scale! With the Year of the Ox upon us, people and organizations around the world are coming together to commemorate prosperity, good health, and good fortune. According to Chinese folklore, the Ox symbolizes hard work, intelligence, and reliability - characteristics that all modern sports enterprises would like to be associated with.
With China introducing an ambitious vision to make the country a world power in soccer by 2050, many foreign teams are starting to undertake some compelling marketing projects aimed at enhancing their influence in the Asian nation. One of Brazil’s biggest soccer clubs, Flamengo, already has an established fan following in China and recently unveiled its special-edition “Year of the Ox” shirts in celebration of Chinese culture and tradition.
The unique white-colored kits include a special arm badge featuring an image of an ox and the slogan “Flamengo is in China now!”. Furthermore, the players’ names on the back of the shirt have also been written in Chinese, making these one-off shirts that much more special!
These jerseys debuted against local rival Fluminense during the Rio de Janeiro derby last week and are currently being auctioned off on our platform! Go check them out by clicking here!
