The Big Final from Across the Atlantic

MatchWornShirt is a strong advocate for women’s soccer, and with some of the game’s greatest talents starring in the American league, it was only a matter of time before MatchWornShirt could give fans around the world the chance to own a match-worn, signed piece from the National Women’s Soccer League. This moment has finally arrived!

The rise of the NWSL is undeniable. Since 2017, the league has grown from 8 to 12 teams, giving fans in many states a team to support. The league has also reached many new viewers around the world, making it one of the fastest-growing leagues in American sports.

MatchWornShirt is the only place where you can find the match-worn, signed jerseys from the 2022 NWSL Championship Final won by the mighty Portland Thorns. Thanks to the brilliance of Sophia Smith, the Thorns found the back of the net in the fourth minute. Sophia Smith’s goal earned her Final MVP honors, allowing her to complete the double after also winning regular-season MVP. Kelli Hubly also turned in an outstanding defensive performance, with 8 tackles and an all-around display of intensity and substance. It has to be said that the Thorns were the favorites coming into the game, but it looked like the win was theirs fairly early on. The Current was unable to create big chances, but that gave us the opportunity to see a number of quality saves from former Thorns goalkeeper Adrianna Franch, a member of the 2022 NWSL Best XI Second Team. Lo’eau LaBonta, named to the Best XI First Team, distributed the ball well and recorded 4 key passes, but fell short of expectations and ultimately wasn’t able to leave her mark on the game. All in all, the match was a great success, drawing 915,000 viewers worldwide—a 71% increase from last year—and more than 17,000 fans to Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

As with the biggest occasions, the jerseys are unwashed, carrying the intensity of the match and making them unique pieces of women’s soccer history. The proceeds from the auction will go toward providing a ‘Level Playing Field’ for children—which is also the name of the charity—so they all have the equipment and opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sports.

To make one yours—a piece of NWSL history from the Final—and leave your mark in the push for a Level Playing Field, head to the auction.
