About this shirt
This official Arsenal shirt was worn by Robin van Persie for the Champions League RO16 clash against Barcelona at the Camp Nou in March 2011. And Van Persie became the story of the night.
Early in the second half he received a second yellow card for shooting just after the referee stopped play for offside, a dismissal widely seen as extremely harsh. "How could I hear his whistle with 95,000 people jumping up and down?" he asked afterwards. With the game and the tie finely poised, it's a moment that Gunners fans remember bitterly to this day.
The following season he captained Arsenal, scoring 37 goals and winning the Golden Boot along with the PFA and FWA awards. At his peak, Van Persie stood among the finest strikers in world football.
