This official Chelsea shirt was prepared for Joe Cole and carries the number 10 he took on after arriving from West Ham in 2003.
Cole spent seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring 39 goals in 282 appearances. The most famous came in April 2006: collecting the ball with his back to goal, he beat three Manchester United defenders and fired home in the 3-0 win that sealed back-to-back titles.
A third Premier League crown followed in 2009/10, and supporters voted him Player of the Year in 2008, the season Chelsea reached their first Champions League final.
The shirt comes from the collection of academy midfielder Jimmy Smith, who joined Cole on the pitch at St James’ Park days after that United win for his only senior Chelsea appearance. Signed by Cole, it honours one of the most naturally gifted players ever to wear Chelsea’s number 10.
