This official Arsenal shirt was worn by Sol Campbell for the Premier League London derby against West Ham United at Highbury in February 2006.
Campbell started at centre-back in the redcurrant kit made for Highbury’s final season, a one-off design honouring the colour Arsenal wore when they arrived at the ground in 1913. The shirt still carries stains that match footage from the game.
His Arsenal story began in 2001, when he crossed north London from Tottenham. Within a year he had won the league and FA Cup Double, and in 2003/04 he was at the heart of the Invincibles defence that went the entire Premier League season unbeaten.
The 2005/06 campaign ended with Campbell heading Arsenal’s goal in the Champions League final against Barcelona in Paris, the club’s first appearance in the competition’s final.
