This signed AC Milan training top belonged to Italian great Franco Baresi, part of his assigned kit for the 1983/84 season. Every sign points to it having been worn, though without archival footage to match it against, that can’t be officially confirmed.
Pieces like this rarely surface, and almost never in this condition. The Olio Cuore sponsorship lasted for the 1983/84 season alone, pinning this piece to a unique window in the club's history.
It was a season of renewal. Milan were back in Serie A, captained by a 23-year-old Baresi already marked out for greatness. He would go on to spend all 20 seasons of his career at the club, lifting six Serie A titles and three European Cups as the cornerstone of the defence that ruled Europe under Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello.
When he retired in 1997, Milan retired his number 6 with him, a fitting honour for the one-club man who came to define what it means to be Rossonero.
