The 25-year-old skater delivered a consistent tournament and was still in contention for a top-five finish ahead of the final 1,000 metres. During the closing distance, however, Botman fell in the final corner, ending his chances of a strong overall classification.

_____________

Volunteers are indispensable within speed skating. At clubs, speed skaters and inline skaters receive training from coaches, and many officials are needed to run competitions. It is important that these volunteers are actively involved in the sport with the proper qualifications. The proceeds from the auction will therefore be used to train new coaches and officials. With every €100, the KNSB can train one coach or official.

In this way, every contribution directly helps develop new talent and makes it possible to organise training sessions and competitions throughout the Netherlands.
