Il y a 141 ans, à la suite de la victoire de l’Australie face à l’Angleterre lors du test-match de 1882, le journal anglais The Sporting Times a publié une nécrologie commémorant la « mort du cricket anglais ». Les piquets de ce match ont ensuite été incinérés et leurs cendres versées dans une urne. Depuis lors, l’Australie et l’Angleterre s’affrontent chaque année pour remporter la fameuse urne de 150 mm, dans ce qui est devenu l’un des événements sportifs les plus emblématiques : The Ashes.
